This morning I attended an incredibly important speech given by the Secretary of State for Defence, Grant Shapps. The speech laid out the emerging threats we, as a country are facing. That is why it is so important that the Government is spending more than £50 billion a year on Defence, more than ever before.

Later today I was in the Chamber to hear the Prime Minister’s statement on the ongoing situation in Yemen. As a Member of Parliament that has also been on military deployments throughout my previous Royal Air Force career, I know these decisions cannot be made lightly. However, in this case I believe the right decision has been made.
