Getting the lifts installed at Beeston Station is so important to help wheelchair users, those with pushchairs or bikes or mobility issues.
I made it a priority to lobby the Treasury for appropriate funding to ensure that Beeston Station was accessible for all since I was elected in December 2019. This led the Chancellor to announce in his 2020 Spring Budget Statement that Beeston Station was to be awarded money in the Government’s ‘Access for All’ scheme. Beeston had not originally been part of the scheme prior to this.
I have been in continual dialogue with East Midlands Railway, Network Rail and Friends of Beeston Station working to bring the project to fruition.
Things have not moved as quickly as I would have liked but we are getting closer.
