I held a Westminster Hall Debate entitled: Fatalities in Childbirth and Shared Parental Leave and Pay.
The reason I called for this debate was to continue to raise the issue of shared parental leave following parental loss in childbirth. I have consistently fought for a change in the law to include a day one right to leave and pay if you lose your partner in childbirth. I am delighted this week that Chris Elmore MP has taken the Bill on, after being successful in the Private Members' Bill Ballot.
The Bill will now have its second reading on Friday 26 January 2024.
It was a special moment yesterday following my debate to have Aaron there in person, the reason my campaign began. I am determined to see this change in the law and will keep working, alongside Chris, to make it happen.
