Today the Government has published its Veterans’ Strategy Action Plan. Ensuring that Veterans in our country receive the support they deserve; this is a topic I am extremely passionate about and so the £70 million extra spending to support veterans cannot come sooner. I discussed this yesterday with the Veterans Minister, Leo Docherty.
I am particularly pleased to read the areas in the report around: Mental Health Support, Skills and Education, as well as the expansion of support for the families of Veterans. It is now important to ensure that this support is delivered in full.
The Government has set a goal of making the UK the best place in the world to be a veteran by 2028, an aim that I am fully supportive in helping to achieve.
