In February last year I spoke in a debate aiming to change the law in order to end child marriage. I was absolutely delighted that this change in the law, to raise the minimum ago of marriage to 18, came into effect this week.
As I said in 2022, this single step will not eradicate child marriage, but it is a step in the right direction and one I am proud to have been involved in.
