I visited Albany Infant and Nursery School and met with Head Teacher, Kirsten O’Neill, Governor, Maxine Govier, and Head Teacher of Albany Junior School, Laura Griffin.
We discussed a variety of topics including the desperate need for a Zebra crossing on Pasture Road near Albany Junior School, I also suggested introducing an active travel plan for the Schools. Gaining a new crossing is an issue I have been behind for a long time and will continue to raise so that children and parents can access the School in a safer way.
I also had the pleasure of visiting their Children’s Parliament, where I heard manifesto commitments such as: longer play time and more books for the library! We followed this by having a vote on whether we should have more sweets or more books and the books had it 4 to 1!
If any Schools want to get involved in the upcoming Parliament Week they can find more information here: https://www.ukparliamentweek.org/en/sign-up/
