I had the honour of opening the Birmingham Leg of the Baton of Hope UK event.
The Baton of Hope is the largest anti-suicide event that has ever been held in the UK. The Baton was created to raise awareness of suicide charities and show people struggling that support is out there. I raised at the event the urgent need to increase Mental Health support.
I have spoken in Parliament previously about the stigma that surrounds this topic still. It is so important that we talk about Mental Health and that we feel free to do so without fear of judgment or discrimination.
On Thursday the Baton is coming to London where I look forward to welcoming it and continuing to campaign for Mental Health to be a priority.
Following this event yesterday, I went to catch-up with Middle Street Resource Centre in Beeston. They do fantastic work supporting Mental Health in our community and I will continue to do all I can to help in their endeavours. They have a huge amount of clubs and activities on offer for people to attend, please find more information here: https://msrc.org.uk/
