Last week I met with the Minister of State for Veterans' Affairs, I raised a variety of veteran programmes that I am particularly passionate about.
I discussed the Military Service Leavers Pathway to Policing Course. This is a Military to Policing Scheme that, following multiple meetings, I managed to ensure would come to here to Nottinghamshire Police first. The scheme allows for individuals leaving the Armed Forces to join a 12-week programme which will fast track them onto the second year of the Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship.
Other veteran issues I raised were that of: employment, mental health and skills. As a proud veteran myself I will continue raising these issues here in Parliament on behalf of the veterans in Broxtowe.
