It was an honour to mark Merchant Navy Day 2022 by the raising of the Red Ensign outside Broxtowe Borough Council's offices this morning.
Merchant Navy Day has been commemorated annually on 3rd September since 2000 in recognition of the sacrifice made by Merchant Seafarers in both World Wars, whose service formed a crucial but often overlooked aspect of these horrific conflicts.
