I have been pushing for improved Skills Provision in Stapleford since being elected. Having met with Nottingham College in June last year, I discovered the Arthur Mee Centre was potentially becoming available, as the current provision for those with learning difficulties at the Centre now is moving to the site in Basford to be developed accordingly.
This second follow on meeting a couple of weeks ago with Nottingham College Staff, the Haven Centre Representative, the Broxtowe Borough Council official and local councillors discussed many possibilities for utilising the building with a mix of users and I remain hopeful something can be done, beyond the Towns Deal, to improve the Skills offer in Stapleford.
Furthermore, I met that day with the same Broxtowe Council Official on the invite of another councillor at Hodgkinson Builders to discuss the possibility of a Bricklaying Hub for apprentices somewhere in Stapleford.
These are ways in which Stapleford can become a place that is a centre for skills and apprenticeships. I will keep on the case to help make this happen!
