On the 12th of December 2019 I was elected to be the Conservative Member of Parliament for Broxtowe.
It is an honour to serve Broxtowe, both locally and nationally, as we have so much to be proud of, here at home.
I joined the Royal Air Force as a young man because I wanted to serve my country and that's exactly what I want to do here. To serve Broxtowe. The highest held military values of loyalty and integrity are instilled into me and through this I believe I can offer Broxtowe a Forces-style positive ability to get things done whilst listening to and understanding our community.
My background has shaped me into who I am today. Dad was a toolmaker and Mum worked shifts in a factory and we were a traditional British working class family. Hard-working and determined to get on, like we are in Broxtowe. My wife Caroline is a born and bred Eastwood girl who lived in Giltbrook when we first met in 1994. This is where we've made our home together and became a family, as our first family home was in Nuthall, and my proudest moment was bringing our twin babies from Nottingham City Hospital to Arnos Grove. We spent many happy years in the Broxtowe constituency before I was posted away by the Royal Air force to serve our country and we always wanted to come back home. Having moved back home to Broxtowe and the communities that exist within it, the independent businesses, the nature reserves, our local pubs, we are elated to be living here close to our family and friends - back where we belong, in Broxtowe.
I am honoured and proud to be a man of Broxtowe and I want to make it an even better place to live. I want to see more money in our NHS, fairer funding for our schools, less crime on our streets and our businesses and high streets thriving. To quote DH Lawrence - who used to dip my wife's great grandma's plaits in their Sunday School ink pots - this is "THE COUNTRY OF MY HEART" - and this is where I want to serve you as your loyal Member of Parliament.
